Description
Nien-Ying Chen is a painter, sculptor, tattoo artist, and graphic designer based in Taipei. Her paintings follow the meticulous logic of traditional Chinese ink techniques while using contemporary drawing tools such as colored pencils, graphite, pastels, and watercolor. Her work often stages absurd human behaviors within ornate and kitsch environments distinctive to Asia. She is a Golden Melody Award winner for Best Album Design, and her work has been featured in Typhoon: In the Eye of Taiwan’s New Artistic Whirlwinds, as well as on platforms such as It’s Nice That and Harper’s BAZAAR HK. She is currently working on an artist’s book in the form of a simple scroll reader.
