»Woodgrain« war eine Installation aus Malereien und Objekten. Jul Quanouai inszenierte einen Spaziergang durch die französische Landschaft, irgendwo zwischen Traum und Alptraum. Er arbeitet hauptsächlich mit schwarz-weißen Linien und Rastern. Die Ausstellung im RFI zeigt neben seinen Malereien auch kleine Farbzeichnungsserien.

Jul Quanouai ist ein französischer Illustrator und Künstler aus Toulouse. Jul veröffentlichte einige Zines und Bücher bei Colorama, Superstructure, éditions Matière, House Books und Nieves. Als Illustrator arbeitete er unter anderem für das Brick magazine, die Zeit und the Baffler.

»Woodgrain« was an installation of paintings and objects. In his exhibition Jul Quanouai staged a walk through the French countryside, somewhere between dream and nightmare. He mainly works with black and white lines and grids. In addition to his paintings, the exhibition at RFI also shows small series of color drawings.
